The next Low-Cost Sanitation Workshop will be held from April 28th - May 1st, 2016 at the Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Benefits of this four-day workshop include: You will be provided with theory, instruction and hands‐on experience by AVFCW staff and a CAWST instructor. Covers topics such as water quality, hygiene, sanitation, disease transmission, household water treatment options and safe water storage. Participants will gain knowledge of the challenges facing developing countries as related to illnesses associated with unclean drinking water. Newsletter – November 2015

This issue of the AVFCW Newsletter highlights our commitment to the people of Lebanon and the million+ refugees in the country, and our ongoing projects there. "The project was started in 2013 by all 27 Rotary Clubs of Lebanon. In April 2013 AVFCW Board members Eileen Heasley and Dr. Jeannette Saquet visited Lebanon for the second time to consult about the project. They provided feedback for improvements and suggested strategies to assure sustainability. Newsletter – July 2015

This issue of the AVFCW Newsletter highlights our ongoing commitment to assist the people of Nepal after the horrifyingly destructive earthquake that hit the country a couple months back. We have been in touch with our partners at the KRMEF, located in Khahare, who in turn have been supporting reconstruction efforts in the area. "The recent earthquakes destroyed more than 500 homes in the village of Khahare, home of KRMEF. Since then KRMEF has been harvesting fresh spring water into tanks. They deliver this safe water to 26,000 people every day as many of the natural water sources they depended on have either moved or been broken. As of mid‐June...

Cholera Prevention in Nepal

Nepal Cholera Prevention Project

Cholera is one of the major problems facing Nepal after the recent earthquake.  According to The World Health Organization, it  can kill someone within hours if left untreated.  About 75% of people infected do not develop any symptoms. The bacteria are present in their faeces for 7–14 days after infection potentially infecting other people. A Vision for Clean Water is working with Rotary Club of Troy, Michigan  and the Kathmandu Midtown Rotaractors to prevent serious outbreak of cholera in Nepal. The first issue of The Vision newsletter for 2015 highlights past workshop attendee Woody Collins and his involvement in bringing clean water to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Woody Collins, a Rotarian in Rotary District 6560 (central Indiana) where he serves as District Water and Sanitation Advisor, greatly appreciates the work of A Vision for Clean Water. World Water Day Presentation (3/22)

Christ Our Light Catholic Church in conjunction with A Vision for Clean Water is hosting a World Water Day program on Sunday, March 22nd from 12:00pm 'til 2:00pm in the parish social hall following the 11:00am Mass. The Church is located at 3077 Glouchester corner of Coolidge in Troy. The program will include activities of Youth Ministry and younger children. Speakers will give us information about the water problems of the world; including the fact that children and adults die everyday from water related illnesses.
